Community Awareness Programme
The NSS Volunteers of GDC Beerwah organized a Survey cum Anti-Drug Awareness Program, which witnessed active participation from both faculty members and NSS volunteers. Throughout the day, the participants engaged wholeheartedly in this impactful initiative.
Under the guidance of NSS Program Officer Dr. Firdous Ahmad Dar and with the support of faculty members, the NSS team collaborated with local gram panchayat members to conduct the program. Their primary objective was to sensitize the villagers about the harmful effects of drug abuse. In addition, they took the initiative to gather data from each family, providing insights into the prevalence of tobacco and drug addiction within the community.
During their interactions with different families in the village, the NSS team not only raised awareness but also provided counseling and psychological support to those suffering from addiction. This approach aimed to offer guidance and encouragement to individuals grappling with this menace.
The collection of data was a crucial step in understanding the extent of the drug problem within the community. By obtaining accurate information about the ratio of households affected by tobacco and drug addiction, the NSS volunteers can formulate more targeted and effective strategies to address the issue.
The counseling and psychological support provided by the NSS volunteers were instrumental in instilling hope and motivation in those struggling with addiction. Through their compassionate efforts, they aimed to empower individuals to overcome the challenges and lead healthier lives.
The Survey cum Anti-Drug Awareness Program conducted by the NSS Volunteers of GDC Beerwah, along with the active participation of faculty members and coordination with local gram panchayat members, signifies a collective commitment to combating drug abuse. Their efforts not only created awareness but also provided valuable support to individuals in need, promoting a positive and drug-free environment.
The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by the NSS team and faculty members in organizing this program deserve appreciation. Their contributions have laid a strong foundation for ongoing efforts to eradicate drug addiction and foster a healthier community.
