About

The Department of Computer Sciences: Shaping the Future of Digital Solutions:

The Department of Computer Sciences, established in 2005, is at the forefront of digital education, preparing students for the exciting and ever-evolving world of technology. We offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to nurture critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of the computer world, all essential for success in today's digital landscape.
In line with the implementation of NEP-2020, we have transitioned to a four-year undergraduate programme (FYUGP) with a major in Computer Applications. We also offer Computer Applications as a minor course and as part of multidisciplinary programs, providing students with flexibility and diverse learning pathways. Furthermore, the department offers various NSQF aligned skill courses, including Junior Software Developer (JSD) and Web Developer (WDP), equipping students with practical skills for the industry. We also teach a Value Added Course on Digital and Technological Solutions, enhancing students' understanding of the broader impact of technology.
Our commitment to fostering a vibrant learning environment is evident in our state-of-the-art facilities, including our newly constructed lab in the New Library-cum-Lecture hall block, expected to be operational by August 2024. This lab boasts 60 computer nodes, fully connected with a 600 Mbps Fiber link, providing students with access to cutting-edge technology. Two dedicated faculty rooms have also been constructed within the new block, ensuring a conducive learning and research environment.
To enhance our IoT curriculum introduced under NEP, we have invested in 10 new IoT kits, providing students with hands-on learning experiences in this rapidly growing field.
Our faculty comprises highly qualified and dedicated professionals committed to providing a dynamic and engaging learning experience. We bridge the gap between curriculum and industry through hands-on workshops, webinars, seminars, extension lectures, and other student developmental activities. This holistic approach ensures our graduates are well-equipped to thrive in the competitive world of software development and digital solutions.
The global demand for software specialists is booming, with the software industry expected to grow by 22% by 2029, exceeding growth rates in other sectors. This reflects the importance of computer skills in today's world, as highlighted by Nicholas Negroponte, who said, "Computing is not about computers anymore. It is about living." From social to professional life, every aspect of our lives is shaped by technology.
Join our program and be at the forefront of this exciting revolution. We are committed to nurturing your potential and preparing you for a successful career in the world of computers and digital innovation.
