About

 The Department of Computer Applications established in 2005 is currently offering 03 years Honors Degree in Computer Applications (BCA) and a Computer Applications course for Non-BCA students. The department is equipped with start-of-art laboratories, smart classrooms, and highly qualified and dedicated faculty members to foster an effective teaching-learning environment. The current era called the digital era is governed and run by Computers and ICT tools. Computers and ICT tools have significantly changed every aspect of human life. According to Nicholas Negroponte, “Computing is not about computers anymore. It is about living.” From social to professional life, personal matters to governmental and international matters, commercial activities to financial activities, all are shaped and facilitated by computers and ICT toots. The employment by the Software industry with about $ 650 billion global spending on Enterprise Solutions and $70 billion global consumer spending on mobile apps is expected to increase by 22% by 2029 which is the highest projected growth rate of all other occupations combined. It demonstrates the popularity and growing demand for software specialists. The Department envisions to give the learners a sound understanding of computers and the computer world by nurturing their problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills so that they are ready for this industry. The offered Programme is designed to cover theoretical and practical aspects of the computer science field with special emphasis on programming languages and software development. Moreover, the department supplements the curricular and co-curricular activities with hands-on workshops, webinars, seminars, extension lectures, and other student developmental activities to bridge the curriculum-industry gap. Isaac Asimov once said, “I do not fear computers. I fear lack of them.” So, knowledge of computers has not only become important but vital and indispensable. Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA)


BCA is a three-year undergraduate program in computer applications. It is divided into six semesters and follows the Choice Based Credit System Scheme (CBCS). The course has both practical and theory papers. The basic eligibility criteria for admission in BCA is the marks obtained in 10+2. No entrance exam is conducted for admission into the BCA course. The final selection is based on merit in the qualifying examination.


BCA stands for Bachelor of Computer Applications. It is an undergraduate course of 3 years that deals with various aspects of computer science and its applications in the real world. BCA course aims to train individuals for the ever-changing world of IT and computer applications by developing their skills in programming, software development, web technology, database management, networking, etc. The BCA course is divided into six semesters (two semesters for each year) and follows the Choice Based Credit System Scheme (CBCS). The course has both practical and theory papers. The syllabus covers topics like database management systems, software engineering, operating systems, web technology, computer architecture, and languages such as C, C++, HTML, Java, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security etc. The basic eligibility criteria for admission in BCA is the marks obtained in 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject. No entrance exam is conducted for admission into the BCA course. The final selection is based on merit in the qualifying examination.     The Department of Computer Sciences in Collaboration with NSS Wing of the College is organizing a function to celebrate National Technology Day 2023 under the G20 banner. The event is scheduled on 11/05/2023 at 10:30 am in the Computer Science Department. The theme for the year 2023 is "School to Startups - Igniting Young Minds to Innovate."
