OBJECTIVES
- To create public awareness, and policy debate around social protection in India.
- To understand the inclusion and safety net outcomes of social protection in India.
- To understand the socio-economic and political empowerment outcomes of the implementation of social protection in India.
- To understand the role of social protection during extreme catastrophic situations such as COVID19 in India.
- To understanding the governance and system of accountability in social protection extension.
- To look into the ways of extending social protection as a universal, available and affordable strategy across India to all sections of the society.
SUB-THEMES
The conference will be based on the following eight themes. However, ideas/papers beyond these themes within the domain of social protection are also welcome.
- Social protection as a safety net.
- Social protection and socioeconomic impact.
- Social protection and labour market participation.
- Social protection and the inclusion of excluded – women, SCs, STs, children and disabled.
- Social protection and the overcoming of COVID19 crisis.
- Social protection and accountability, and governance.
- Social protection and the role of market, and third sector.
- Future of social protection.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Academicians, researchers, scholars (in M.Phil and PhD), masters students, policy makers, government officials and CSOs working on issues related to social protection are invited to present their papers.
Call for Papers:
We invite original papers from academicians, researchers, scholars (in M.Phil and PhD), masters students, policy makers, government officials, and CSOs working on issues related to social protection. The papers should uphold the themes and sub-themes of the conference and should be as per the following specifications:
- Abstract should be within 300-500 words.
- Last date for registration and submission of Abstract: 20th May 2023 (via registration link only)
- Last date for submission of full papers by selected participants: 5th June 2023.
- Conference Date: 21-22 June 2023
- Venue: Government Degree College Beerwah, Budgam, Kashmir, J&K (UT), Pin: 193411, India.
Publication:
All the papers presented in the conference will be published in an edited volume, and all the abstracts will be published in an abstract book.

Registration Fee:
The fee is the minimal token of donation towards conference expected from all the participants. It will cover two days lunch, two teas a day, and a conference kit:

Accommodation:
The conference is not in a position to offer accommodation to any participant. However, desirous participants can submit a subsidized accommodation fee for a shared room. The college has tied-up with a few good hotels on Gulmarg Road for subsidized accommodation.
Transport Facility:
Daily pick-up and drop facility will be arranged from selected hotels, and Srinagar to GDC Beerwah for both days of the conference.
